Join us at the CGIUKI Annual Lecture 2025 in partnership with London Business School as we welcome this years keynote speaker Sir Andrew Likierman as he delivers his lecture 'Judgement – the governance perspective'. Directors are required to exercise independent judgement by the UK Companies Act, a requirement mirrored in many other countries. But independent judgement is not defined. So what is it? How would a director know he or she had it? How could other colleagues assess it? The CGI published a booklet by Professor Sir Andrew Likierman which set out to answer these questions. Sir Andrew will take forward the thinking in his booklet in the light of recent corporate developments and the development of his ideas, including in his recently published book. It will include the use of judgement more generally in the world of work and professional judgement by professionals as well as independent judgement on the Board.
